  • 250 g boiling onions, roots trimmed, peeled
  • 30 g butter

    Place onions in a single layer in a small saucepan. Add the butter and enough cold water to barely cover the onions. Place the saucepan over high heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are tender when pierced with the tip of a small knife and the water has completely evaporated.

    Stir the onions gently and continuously to brown them a little in the remaining butter.
