  • 1 egg beaten
  • salt and pepper
  • ¼ teaspoons grated nutmeg
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 450 g potatoes
  • 60 g grated gruyère cheese
  • 30 g butter
  • 250 ml chicken stock

    Peel and slice the potatoes finely. Put them in a bowl and add the stock with the beaten egg into it. Season with the nutmeg, salt and pepper add the grated cheese and mix thoroughly.

    Grease an ovenware dish and rub it with a clove of garlic. Add the potato mixture and dot with small pieces of butter. Cook in a moderately slow oven 325°F - gas 3 - for 35 to 40 mins. until the potato mixture is cooked and the top is beginning to brown. Serve in the dish in which it is cooked
